In my previous posts, I explained the three layers in the MAP Protocol structure as well as the three grant programs its team is offering. I also wrote a review article focusing on its official website, its design and optimization for the end users’ experience. Today, we are going to check and review its official explorer, MAPOScan.io.

Color Style, Font, and Overall Design

Unlike the typical and similar UI designs of Polygonscan, Etherscan, and BSCScan, MAPOScan.io presents a different layout with three-main-color setup (black, blue, and white). The interface itself features a minimalistic design and the larger fonts emphasize each key area and statistics. The spacing is also good as it is comfortable in the eyes and though there are some big spaces/gaps in the some areas of the page, I think it is for the sake of minimalism which would complement its average load time.

Desktop and Mobile Optimization

For me, accessibiliy of the explorer is a big factor whenever I do crypto transactions. This is because most of the time I like to refer on the official on-chain records rather than in the transaction history of the dApp I am using. Upon testing the load time of the website in both mobile and desktop, here are the results:

Desktop (on Chrome/Brave): 2+ seconds on average (3 tests each)

Desktop (on Firefox): 1.5 seconds on average (3 tests)

Mobile (Safari): 1.5 seconds on average (2 tests)

Mobile (Chrome/Brave/Mises): 2+ seconds on average (1 test each)

The results in Desktop and Mobile testing show similarities more likely because the layout of the website is the same in views. As a result, you might need to zoom in a little bit when visiting the explorer in your smartphone.

Overall, the design and optimization of the website is fine and great for its intended purpose and features. Now let’s take a look at the tools and other areas that we can see in the explorer.

MAPO Mainnet 14-Day Transaction History

You can see a short summary of the volume of transactions for the past two weeks. You can easily see the trend on how many users are using the MAP Protocol ecosystem.

Chain Details

In this section you can see the following: Total Blocks, Block Time, Total TXNs, and Total Addresses. Each of these are already self-explanatory and these information update real-time.

Cross-Chain Details

These are the transactions done through the MAP Protocol cross-chain design. This feature is not live yet and it will be announced in their official channels once this is already launched. Note: Transactions made through the Bridge do not show here.

Latest Blocks and Latest Transactions

These two sections are also self-explanatory. What’s interesting here is if you would notice, unlike the explorers of most EVM chains, “latest block” transactions don’t appear in the Latest Transactions” tab.

Validators

In this page, you can see the number of active validators in the MAP Protocol ecosystem and their stats such as activity, status, and the no. of epoch (a period of time in crypto chains) their nodes have been active in.

Accounts and Verified Contracts

The “Accounts” page actually shows the top 10,000 wallet address that hold the most of MAPO tokens. This is a good reference tool if you want to check how the tokenomics of going and being maintained. On the other hand, the “Verified Contracts” section lists down the official contracts that are verified in the chain. As of posting, the verified contracts are mostly the contracts of primary tokens in the blockchain network.

Tokens

This is another useful tool you can refer to when tracking all tokens and NFT tokens throughout the MAPO ecosystem. You can easily track the tokens’ name, total supply, transfer, and number of holders.

Conclusion

For its purpose, the MAPOScan.io explorer is well-designed as well for its significant resources like the token trackers and validators’ performance. Looking forward to the live launch of the MAP Protocol cross-chain functionality so that we can update test it too and write a review about it in the future posts.
