I’ve come across Map Protocol just recently on Twitter and upon reading more about the project, I got interested in its scope. In simple words, Map Protocol is a platform that allows interoperability between multiple blockchains and provides faster and cost-efficient cross-chain transactions. Based on the whitepaper, their tech infrastructure will support all EVM-based and non-EVM blockchain networks.

In this article, we will go through a quick review of its website: https://www.mapprotocol.io

Font, Background, and Site Colors

The main colors of the website are #21222C (Greyish Black), #000000 (Black), #3FEFEE (Light-ish Green), and #FFFFFF (White). The combination of the four colors has successfully provided a minimalistic interface and a relaxing feeling. This is complemented by the background graphic (space image) and the waves on the sides (Night mode) and by the plain background with a non-invasive pattern on the side (Light mode). Users can toggle between these two modes in the upper right corner (sun or crescent icon). The font, Helvetica (based on the results when I ran a font checker), also adds up to this minimalism effect. From the perspective of the website visitor, the combination of all these elements is comfortable in the eyes and somehow emphasizes the scope of the project which is technology-related.

UI Responsiveness

After trying it on different devices in three different places, the average load time of the website is around 2.5 seconds. When I navigate from the top to the bottom and vice versa, the responsiveness is fast and smooth. I tried each button and all of those are functioning (except for the Butter Network on the bottom part since it’s not yet active). External links open in new tabs without trouble, except for the Telegram link as it only works when opened inside the Telegram app.

Optimization for Mobile

The Map Protocol website is very optimized for mobile devices. The content of the website when on mobile view is arranged neatly and does not show any heavily compressed sections. The load time is also a bit faster with an average of around 1.5 seconds (tested at three different times). All intended clickable buttons are working greatly fine too.

Overall Review and Comment

In generalization, the official website of Map Protocol has all working links in the website and the overall design and elements in it are all contributing to a great experience to any users who will visit the page. The website is successful in being the main gateway to all information related to Map Protocol as well as to all functions in its ecosystem.

I also personally like how the project presented the words “Empower Web3 Apps to Thrive in the Omnichain Future” on the main page. For me, this is a strong point that can be one of the project’s selling points. Nowadays, the ecosystem of the crypto space is growing so steadily that new more networks are being launched at a faster rate.
